Richard Roper (Sun Im Kwahn Jahng Nym) 8th Degree Master Black Belt

Kuk Sool Won of Kingwood is dedicated to teaching the best of the traditional Korean Martial Art Kuk Sool Won ™, under the guidance of Head Instructor, 8th Degree Black Belt, Suhn Im Kwahn Jahng Nym (SIKJN), Richard Roper. SIKJN Richard brings his expertise and experience that comes with teaching all over the world and operating a Kuk Sool School for over 40 years.

Stephen Boyd (Pyung Kwahn Jahng Nym) 5th Degree Master Black Belt

Stephen, 5th Degree Black Belt, has consistently practiced at least five times a week throughout his practice and teaching of Kuk Sool Won. When you hear 'Would you like help with that', you know that Pyung Kwahn Jahng Nym (PKJN) Stephen is in the Do-Jahng, ready to assist and help and of the Students.PKJN was proudly promoted in November 2017.

Ernesto Ayala (Sa Bum Nym) 4th Degree Black Belt

Joining Kingwood in 2016 from Puerto Rico, where Sa Bun Nym (SBN) Ernesto has been practicing under SIKJN. His commitment to the WKSA, his determination in hiw own personal training as well as other Students around him, are an example to us all. SIKJN invited SBN to relocate to the U.S. to assist the Students of the Kingwood School.

Ruben Sandoval (Jo Kyo Nym)

Promoted to 1st Degree Black Belt in February 2013, Jo Kyo Nym (JKN) Ruben really enjoys assisting his fellow Students and does all he can to help them reach their goal. An avid practitioner attending Class as much as his busy schedule allows, Students respect his determination for self-improvement and follow his advice to them of "We Need More Practice". JKN Ruben is currently testing for his 2nd Degree Black Belt.

Samuel Saenz (Jyo Kyo Nym)

Promoted in February 2015, JKN Sam has already established himself as a leader and mentor to the younger Students. His friendly demeanor means all Students of all ages are happy to seek his assistance and guidance. JKN Sam is also our Halloween organizer and makes our Kuk Sool Haunted Woods the success it is every year! When you need a T-Shirt or any other item custom printed and designed JKN Sam is your man! JKN Sam is also currently testing for his 2nd Degree.

Carlene Lightfoot (Jyo Kyo Nym)

Also promoted in May 2015 JKN Carlene is a prime example of both health, beauty, and fitness. Always with her "Fitbit" JKN Carlene ensures that her training is to her full capacity, and the results speak for themselves. A dedicated Black Belt, who participates in all the WKSA and School activities. JKN Carlene will be promoting to 2nd Degree in early 2021.

Olivier Houel (Jyo Kyo Nym)

JKN Olivier promoted to Jo Kyo Nym (JKN) along with his son in May 2018. When his son first signed up for lessons JKN Olivier watched and was soon enrolled himself. Since that time the two have been able to train together and spend quality time together. Not to be left out, Chloe, JKNs daughter enrolled some time later and is now a 1st Degree Black Belt herself. A Family Hat trick!!

Trevor Gabel (Jyo Kyo Nym)

JKN Trevor amazes us all with his gymnastic capabilities. His cartwheels and backflips are second to none! JKN Trevor is a great supporter of the School, always present at School events, helping out wherever he can. JKN Trevor was promoted in February 2019.

Stephen Anderson (Jyo Kyo Nym)

JKN Steven joined us from Clear Lake in February 2019. Since joining Kingwood JKN Steve has become a firm favorite with the children as he helps out with the Childrens’ class twice a week. So glad to welcome him to Kingwood!

Billy Pepperman (Jyo Kyo Nym)

Along with his family JKN Billy was promoted in November 2019. JKN decided that he would delay his own promotion in order that the whole family (his wife and daughter) could all be promoted together. JKN Billy is now a great Instructor and a tremendous help within the Childrens’ Classes.

Nathanael McDonald (Jyo Kyo Nym)

JKN Nathaniel promoted to Jo Kyo Nym (JKN) August 2015 and has been with Kingwood since he was a small boy. During his time at Kingwood he has developed from a shy non active boy into a strong, confident athlete. JKN’s other passion is Baseball to which he excels in also. JKN Nathaniel is currently testing for his 2nd Degree.

Gabriel Farr (Jo Kyo Nym)

Perseverance! Gabriel really knows the meaning of that word. After a long journey Gabriel made Black Belt 1st Degree after seven years! JKN has transformed from a 6 year old 'boy' to a young gentleman, always ready to help. JKN Gabriel was promoted in May of 2017, and is also testing for his 2nd Degree

Damien Barriga (Jyo Kyo Nym)

Along with his brother Andrik, JKN Damien has practiced 5 times a week almost every week on his road to his Black Belt. JKN Damien successfully transitioned to the Adult Class in the summer of 2019.

Andrik Barriga (Jyo Kyo Nym)

Brother to JKN Damien, JKN Andrik too has practiced 5 times a week almost every week he has been with Kuk Sool. JKN Andrik has been a great mentor and example within the children’s classes and they were sorry to see him advance to the adult classes to join his brother.

Frank Sciotino (Jo Kyo Nym)

JKN Frank wanted to join Kuk Sool when he was just 5 years old! His patience to become six paid off when he was able to be enrolled. Avidly practicing 2-3 times a week, also balancing his love of baseball and baseball, JKN Frank was promoted in November 2017

Hugo Houel (Jo Kyo Nym)

JKN Hugo promoted to Jo Kyo Nym (JKN) along with his father in May 2018. JKN Hugo was the family pioneer in Kuk Sool, leading the way by his example. JKN Hugo is a perfectionist in all that his does. Kuk Sool has played a part in his concentration and perseverance which has held him in good stead for his other passion- music. JKN Hugo is in First Orchestra playing the bass and he now also plays the viola alongside sister Chloe!

Christian Santiago (Jo Kyo Nym)

Another pioneer of Kuk Sool. JKN Christian was thrilled when his Mum also enrolled. Mum and son now train together in Class. JKN Christian has now migrated to the Adult Classes and was promoted to Jo Kyo Nym in August 2019.

Abigail Pepperman (Jo Kyo Nym)

Promoted alongside her Mum and Dad, JKN Abigail attends the children’s class and then does her homework while Mum and Dad practice in the adult class. JKN Abigail has performed Kuk Sool for many of her School events so her school chums know not to mess with her!

Sherly Pepperman (Jo Kyo Nym)

JKN Sheryl was the last of the Peppermans to join Kuk Sool. Watching Abigail and Billy for some time- Sheryl finally decided to join them when Billy and Abigail were already Red Stripe Belts. When the Peppermans come to class were truly are a 'Family Martial Art'.
