About Me:
Originally wanting my daughter to learn a martial art and after observing her in Kuk Sool class I decided to to start training. I started taking Kuk Sool Won classes in 2004 with my daughter. Beside studying Kuk Sool my other hobbies consist of hanging out with my sons and daughter. Being a motorcycle enthusiasti enjoy taking road trips with my wife on a classic Softail Heritage.
How long have you been training in Kuk Sool Won™?
I
started in Kuk Sool WON in 2004. after achieving blue belt I had to stop training. I started practicing again in April OF 2010 on my Birthday. This is my Birthday present to my self.
What made you join Kuk Sool Won?
Wanting to get back into martial arts I searched for the one that offered Closed and open hand striking methods: including palm, wrist, finger striking techniques and specialized hand training techniques Pressure point striking and joint locks. Also interested in weapons, Kuk Sool WON had what I was looking for. I found that Kuk Sool is challenging, yet offers a great release and always puts a smile on my face.
What do you like most about Kuk Sool Won™?
What I like the most about Kuk Sool Won is the soft hard style. It's a great method for improving your stamina, physical strength and cardiovascular fitness and I always leave knowing that I have accomplished the workout Idesired. The study and practice of Kuk Sool Won also gives me a new level of confidence and health.
What is your favorite Technique so far – and why?
My favorite technique at this time would be Joo Muhk Maga Ki Bohn Soo #6. I like it because it teaches critical techniques of trapping a punching attack prior to setting up the throw or lock.
What is your favorite Form (Hyung) so far – and why?
So far my favorite Hyung would be Go Geup Hyung, because it provides basic hand and kicking techniques in a pattern of "connected moves." This provides the foundation of timing, balance, speed, coordination, and control.
What are your long term goals in Kuk Sool Won™?
One of my long term goals is becoming a proficient practitioner in Korean Martial arts requiring many years of dedicated practice. Another goal is taking a trip to Korea with the association,and spending time visiting all the Buddhist temples and Monasteries.
What is/has been your best accomplishment in Kuk Sool Won™?
Kuk Sool Won™ has helped me develop my self-confidence by helping me reach my goals as I developed Martial Arts skills ! The movements of Kuk Sool have developed my sense of balance, agility, poise, dexterity and all round co-ordination.
